What is Twisted Retreat?

Twisted Retreat is a monthly subscription box service that features an exclusive print horror book and five (5) or more exclusive novelty items inspired generic horror or horror fandoms. Each box is tied together with a theme and will feature exclusive novelty items, snacks or drinks, candles, and occasional bath & body products with a spooky twist.
How much do boxes cost?/How does the subscription work?*Please note, all rates are reflected in USD*
Twisted Retreat offers eight different subscription plans. Full boxes:
One month full box subscriptions are $52.00 + s/h. Three month full box subscriptions are $150.00 + s/h. Six month full box subscriptions are $294.00 + s/h. Twelve month subscriptions are $567.00 + s/h. Book only: One month book only subscriptions are $27.99 + s/h. Three month book only subscriptions are $78.00 + s/h. Six month book only subscriptions are $145.00 + s/h. Twelve month book only subscriptions are $275.00 + s/h. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout and depend on where you live!. For full boxes, the average shipping cost per month for the USA and its territories is $10, the average shipping cost for Canada is $17.00, and to other countries it is between $20-$30. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout.. For the book only plan, the average shipping cost per month for the USA is $5.00. For Canada, the average shipping cost is $10.00. For other countries, the average cost for book only shipping is $12.00-$15.00.

What comes inside each box?

Boxes come with something different each month. You may check out our monthly themes for hints under the “This Month’s Box” link. Every box features a new release book. Twisted Retreat has a focus on providing unique and usable products that have a dark, creepy twist. We pride ourselves on finding unique, high quality products that you can actually use. Products may include drink ware, kitchen items, home decor, wearable, bags, blankets, a second book, and more. Boxes may also contain candles, and occasional vegan self-care products such as bath and body products, aromatherapy, and more. We may also include snacks and beverages.

What are the themes?

Every month, Twisted Retreat will create a dark and creepy theme that is inspired by the season and featured book. The themes are used to carefully curate all of the products.


What age is Twisted Retreat intended for?

Twisted Retreat will be featuring dark books that may push boundaries and may not be suitable for children under 18. We highly recommend this box for anyone 18+ that loves horror.


What if I already own the book?

Twisted Retreat will feature exclusive horror books each month; most of the time they are newly released books (roughly published within 6 months of shipment). We also reveal the title each month, so if you have it or are not interested, you may skip that month. Please read all theme info and book hints prior to purchasing.
*NOTE* Twisted Retreat cannot accept returns. Please read the other FAQs and Terms and Conditions for a full understanding of returns and refunds.


Can I buy a single item from a past box?

It depends! If there is extra inventory, they will be listed on the shop. Feel free to reach out if there is something specific, and we will see what we can do.

 

Can I buy past boxes?

When available, past boxes will be listed in the shop. We cannot restock past boxes, though, sorry.


Is the book only subscription the same book as what’s in the full box?

Yes! If you grab the full box, there’s no need to grab the book only box unless you want to grab one for a friend or loved one.


When will I be billed?

If it is your first time ordering, you will be billed immediately. Billing renews on the 1st of the month, so you will be billed again on the following month for the following cycle should you wish to continue your subscription.
(For example: one month subscriptions will be auto-renewed and billed on the 1st of the following month unless cancelled. Three, six, and twelve month subscriptions will be auto renewed and billed at the end of each cycle).
*Please note*- cancelling in the middle of a subscription duration will cancel the auto-renewal. You will receive any boxes you have pre-paid, but you will not be auto-renewed.


How do renewals work?

Billing renews on the 1st of the month, so you will be billed again on the following month for the following cycle should you wish to continue your subscription.  (For example: one month subscriptions will be auto-renewed and billed on the 1st of the following month unless cancelled. Three and six month subscriptions will be auto renewed and billed at the end of each cycle). If you wish to continue your subscription, there is no need to act; your place is all set!


My renewal failed- what do I do?

There are a number of reasons a renewal can fail. Don’t worry! It could be that your credit card expired or was replaced. If you are located outside of the United States, your card company could block the transaction due to their policies regarding online shopping. In this case, you have to contact your bank/card company to authorize the charge.
A failed renewal is not a cancellation! The system will continue to try and charge your account if it fails before your subscription is expired. Please update your payment method if necessary and it will try again.
Because the boxes are limited, please make sure to take care of any of these failures within 3-5 days of billing so that your spot can be secured.


How much is shipping?

Shipping depends on where you live. We ship through the UPS; so domestic shipments (including all 50 U.S. states and outlining territories) are $10.00 per box. International shipping varies based on your location and will be calculated at the time of checkout.
Twisted Retreat has worked with a shipping company to ensure the most reliable shipping available at the automatic lowest rates; but please note that shipping internationally is unavoidably costly. International customs charges may also be applied when the product is delivered, so please bear that in mind when ordering. Subscribers are responsible for customs fees.
Please note, shipping prices are subject to change at any time without notice based on UPS price increases.


Does Twisted Retreat ship to my country?

Twisted Retreat ships globally with the exception of Mexico, Russia, Belarus, and Peru. Unfortunately, shipping is unreliable and packages often get lost, and may take months to arrive in these countries. We hope to find a way to change this in the future.
This is subject to change at any time without warning due to unforeseen circumstances.


Is shipping tracked?

Yes! You will receive a tracking number once the boxes ship.

 

My box has shipped, but it is going to my old address. What do I do?

Once your box has shipped, Twisted Retreat cannot change the address. It is your responsibility to assure that the address is up to date. Please e-mail Twisted Retreat at support@twistedretreat.com to assure your address is up to date. 


When will the box arrive?

It depends on where you live. Twisted Retreat ships between the 18th-23rd of the month. With your tracking number, you can get a better idea of exactly when your box will arrive! 
Generally, US shipments takes between 1-7 business days and international shipment to Europe, Canada, the UK, and Australia takes 1-4 weeks from shipment. Shipments to South America, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa may take 3-8 weeks.


I am an International subscriber and my tracking information hasn't updated in a while. Where is my box?

Once a box leaves the United States, it is up to local post to deliver it to you. Sometimes these updates do not register on the tracking website. Unfortunately, Twisted Retreat cannot track boxes outside of the United States any further than what your tracking information indicates. However, it is very rare that a package goes completely missing. International shipping can take a  long time to arrive to some areas around the globe  and is particularly slow during certain times of the year. It will arrive to you, but it may take a little longer than expected in some areas!


Can I switch from the book only box to the full box or vice versa?

It depends! If the full box is open (NOT on a waitlist), you may switch without wait; just send us an e-mail. If it's on a waitlist system, you must join the full box waitlist as we may be sold out. You may switch if you're invited to join after joining the waitlist.

I am an international subscriber. Will I be charged customs fees every month?

It depends on which country and which city you are from. Unfortunately, Twisted Retreat has no control over international customs laws. Understand that customs fees and taxes may be applied to your box and it is solely your responsibility to pay these and to understand local laws for imports from the United States. 

 
I want to cancel; how do I do that?

We're sorry to see you go! We understand you may have many different reasons for cancelling. You can cancel in your account or email support@twistedretreat.com for assistance.
Please note, cancellations apply to renewals. If you cancel after renewal on the 1st of the month, you will still receive the box that you have renewed for. You may e-mail Twisted Retreat at support@twistedretreat.com if your box renewed and wish to cancel it. Please note, if you cancel after renewal and need a refund, you will be charged a small cancellation fee from the credit card processor. If your box has already begun prep for shipment or if it has already shipped, we cannot cancel it.


Subscriptions

Can I order just one box?

You may! There is a one-time box offered each month in the shop. These will not renew; but they are limited and often sell out early.


What payment methods can I use?

Twisted Retreat accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Discover, and Diners Club.

 

Do you accept PayPal?

Yes!

What is the one month vs. 3 or 6 or 12 month plans?

If you sign up for a one month subscription, you will receive your boxes on a monthly basis and can cancel any time (you will receive any boxes you paid for). If you order a 3 month subscription, you get a slight discount per month and will receive 3 boxes before you are billed again. If you order a 6 month plan, you will receive 6 boxes before you are billed again. If you order a 12 month plan, you will receive 12 boxes before you are billed again.


You’re sold out but I want to subscribe! What do I do?

Thank you for your interest! We offer a waitlist system when boxes sell out.
Definitely keep your eye on the “past boxes” shop as well- we will sell past boxes when available if you are interested in a certain month!


What currency do you use?

The U.S. Dollar. 


How can I order a gift for someone?

Thank you for thinking of us to use as a gift!
There is an option on the main page to give Twisted Retreat as a gift. Click on Gift Subscriptions on the drop down menu, select how many months you’d like to give, and enter your recipient’s address.


Will my gift subscription auto-renew?

No. When you click "gift" at checkout it will not auto-renew.


Can I include a personalized note for a gift?

Sorry, no. We rely on a fulfillment center that would be unable to include gift messages in the box. However, send us an e-mail at support@twistedretreat.com and we can send you a print out card! 


Can I skip a box?

You may! 
 There’s an option to skip a month in your account. Otherwise, you can e-mail us at support@twistedretreat.com for assistance.


Can I return my box or be refunded?

Twisted Retreat does not accept returns. If you require a replacement due to a damaged product, please let us know via e-mail at support@twistedretreat.com. We do require photographic evidence of the damaged product as vendors sometimes need these to fulfill replacement requests. We are happy to send a replacement or refund you for the cost of the product if it is out of stock.

What if I accidentally ordered two boxes and they already shipped/arrived?

If you accidentally ordered two boxes and didn't realize until they arrived, you can return the box for a refund excluding the shipping fees. 
 


Can I cancel for a refund if the box is running late?

We always do our best to ship on time. On the rare occasion that we are shipping late due to circumstances beyond our control, we do not allow cancellations for a refund. In circumstances that the post delays your shipment, we cannot offer a cancellation or refund. We do everything in our power to ship quality boxes in a timely fashion, but once a box leaves our facility, we have no control over it.


 
When do I need to cancel so I am not billed again?

Billing is on the 1st of the month at the end of your subscription term, so please be sure to cancel before then so you are not renewed.

I sell goodies that would be perfect for Twisted Retreat! How can I feature my items in a future box?

That’s amazing! If you are looking to get your products inside a Twisted Retreat box, please e-mail me with your information at support@twistedretreat.com. Please be willing to send samples at my request! I will log your information and let you know if I'm interested in your products and for which month I'd like to feature them.


I have a bookstagram, booktube, book blog, or a book twitter. Can I get a free box to review or promote?

Thank you so much for your interest and for your willingness to help promote the Twisted Retreat brand! It really means a lot to us :)
To answer your question, it really depends on a number of factors. Due to a high volume of inquiries, we will consider inquiries on a case-by-case and month-by-month basis. 
Right now, we can only send free boxes to those that have a strong social media presence (10,000+ followers) and that have great interactions on their blogs, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. If you fit these requirements, please contact us at support@twistedretreat.com and I will see what I can do!


Do you have any representatives?

Twisted Retreat holds rep searches on Instagram for Instagram, TikTok, or Youtube roughly every 3-4 months! Check our Instagram for any open rep searches!
